Ive completed the sounds but was rushed because this was the last week. Im happy with it, but know there's room from improvement. Nevertheless, its a step up from a week ago where the sounds kind of ruined the animation. I also did the dvd menu and the credits and put the animation on dvd. I ran into a few exporting issues with sound and spent some late hours after class trying to fix them. I finished just in time for the screening on Friday and was pleased with the audience reaction.
Summary
Although the animation was kind of completed successfully, I felt there were many areas I could improve on. One of the main problems was my work flow which resulted in a lot of time wasted. Ive often thought while doing something, Ive could done another area first which couldve saved me going back to correct issues. One issue I came across was when I was doing the body of the character first, then doing the faces to follow to the body. I was satisfied with the body movements when I completed it, but with necessary changes to the facial expressions some body movements had to change to support the facial expressions. I couldve done the faces first and see how well they interacted between the characters, then body movements would follow later. I spent the majority of time on the animations and left very little time for the other areas. I didnt have the time to paint the backgrounds in photoshop and compromised by doing vector backgrounds. Sound probably suffered the most I was in a rush to gather all the sounds and assign them to the animations in the last 2 weeks. I also had exporting issues I frantically tried to fix at last minute. I think next year I will have a rough cut of the soundtrack at the animatic stage of the production. Probably another 3-5 weeks and I think I could complete it the way I want it. Most of these problems were due to poor time management on my part nevertheless, I have identified these issues and should be well prepared next years major project.
